Flex-JIT™ - Custom Manufacturing Services
Flex-JIT™ - A Flexible, Cost-effective Manufacturing Service
Flex-JIT™ is a flexible just-in-time manufacturing service. AthenaES has developed an efficient manufacturing process for producing liquid and powder products that is both flexible and responsive, which allows our manufacturing team to rapidly adapt to any variable production needs and schedules of our clients. We produce liquid and dry powder culture media as well as an array of chemical and biological reagents for the life science industry. From simple 2 component products to complex 80 component chemical-biological mixtures, Athena produces a wide range of products in batch sizes from milligrams to kilograms and liters to hectoliters. We partner with early-staged as well as established life science companies to support them in establishing a customized and comprehensive, low-cost and low-risk manufacturing capability.

Cell Culture MediaAthena offers an array of custom cell culture formulations including generic media such as RPMI, DMEM, EMEM, McCoy’s 5A, etc. as well as our proprietary cell culture media with custom alterations. We can tailor formulations to include or exclude select amino acids like arginine, lysine, leucine, and methionine, with or without high or low levels of glucose, or with and without any other component. Orders can be made to fit any research requirements, including SILAC experiments, production of recombinant proteins and animal-product-free applications. Bulk or small-batch orders are available with a minimum purchase of 5 L.
Dry Powder ManufacturingAthena can produce most media and buffer formulations as a dehydrated medium. Dehydrated blends of media and buffers have a longer shelf-life and lower unit cost for shipping. Storage and transportation are at ambient temperatures thereby eliminating the need for expensive cold-chain shipment and storage under refrigerated conditions. Athena does custom packaging in single use packets, gram to kilogram bottle containers, or multi-kilogram drums depending on the customer’s need.

OEM and Private LabelingOEM and private labeling services are available for generic or customer-defined media formulations. AthenaES provides custom manufacturing and packaging to support customer’s production needs. Production schedules and batch sizes are flexible allowing for agile supplies based on demand. Logistical support is available for further inventory control and support of our partner’s customers.

Protein ExpressionAthena specializes in optimizing recombinant protein expression systems to maximize yield and purity. We concentrate on expressing difficult-to-produce proteins that have the potential to provide ground-breaking benefits. Our capabilities and support meet the needs of industry, academic, and government
researchers from small-scale technical and commercial feasibility studies to final product manufacturing. With the advent of Athena’s ACESTM (AthenaESTM Complete Expression System) and the use of the revolutionary YebF protein, we can tackle a wide range of proteins that may be unable to be expressed under normal conditions. Biocatalyst DevelopmentAthena’s biocatalyst development employs an array of techniques to identify and optimize biocatalytic activity for industrial processes. AthenaESTM can screen a wide range of microbes for
specific enzymatic activity, determine the source of an enzyme and optimize the enzyme activity for substrate specificity. |
